Born and raised in Sao Paulo Brazil, Raquel immigrated to Canada in December of 1993 with a degree in Graphic Design and a big dream to make a new life in this beautiful country that she loved the moment her feet touched the ground. This new life included marriage, a wonderful daughter, a home business, several loving cats and a new venture to work in website development.
Moving to Canada gave her the opportunity to learn another type of design creation using embroidery techniques. This opened a new door to start her own business and become an embroidery digitizer while continuing to work as a graphic designer.
Her passion for the graphic arts and her desire to further hone and expand those skills motivated Raquel to acquire a certificate in Web Design and Development.
Her business, Oaktree Design is the culmination of her entire working skill set and her work can be seen also in her portfolio.
It was with this new set of valuable and contemporary technical skills that permitted Raquel to carry the torch handed to her from Allan Cooper who was the original "pioneer architect" of this website.
Raquel has been able to ensure that this website "keeps up with the times" given the changes in the technology since the website was launched in March of 2006. She continues to take courses to stay a step ahead in this very competitive and challenging industry.
All of you who enjoy the ease of navigation, layout and "curb appeal" of this site, owe your gratitude to Raquel's attention to detail and care.
Norm as her husband and the guy who "gets the stuff to put on the site" forever owes his gratitude to her as well !
Raquel's next step is to re-code the entire website to make it even more mobile friendly and using greater contemporary means to get the site more responsive regardless of how you access it. Patrons of this website are invited to contact Raquel if you have any query related to the technical side of the website or inquiry as to the other services that Oaktree Design provides.
